bad photos of recent work, will post better ones soonish

this one ticks with the seconds, i'll post a video eventually. But I do not really enjoy this class very much (Electronic Media Studio II)

This was an underpainting that I really liked, and the finished product did not turn out how I really wanted it to. So I am just gonna put this one up.

A concept assignment that had to do with the recreation of childhood memory

Large painting I did, just a study of the figure and also for me to work on skin tones...which I think I am getting a hang of... :)

Things that have been happening...

Karl trying to look tough in a skirt.

The coolest car I found this year, just chillin' on my walk back to Fairfax after school.

Fall in Pittsburgh...but its almost over already :(

The biggest squirrel I have ever seen lives outside of CFA. But seriously, its like double the size of those little grey ones.

Also, my bones painting got chosen to be in a temporary gallery in a little cafe on campus, I will put up a picture soon hopefully!

Registration for spring classes is this Wednesday... I have my fingers crossed that I get into all the classes I want/need...

Have lots of work as normal, this past weekend was nice because I didn't do most of it ;)

I went to the last football game this past weekend, it was beautiful outside. We lost. But it's ok because I just went to be with the kiltie band.

And I have discovered Pumpkin Spice Lattes, which are soooo delicious.
Also I have a craving for eggnog, and the holidays are just around the corner. Everything is going by so fast!!!

more paintings...

Just dumping other small paintings I've done so far this semester. They all turned out ok...eh. I want to keep going and get better.

Painting!

Learning how to oil paint. I absolutely love my painting class, not only because I am learning a lot but feel like I am really productive. This piece was based off the idea of "uncanny" and its large, 4' x 4', biggest painting i've ever done. Intimidating at first, but I got over that quickly! Since Painting is probably going to be my concentration, I am really looking forward to investigating in this medium more in this class and in the future.

EMS2

Yay drawing with programs!

This year I am taking Electronic Media Studio 2, and right now we are processing, which is really hard! I dunno...there's a lot of weird math but I do like drawing things with the programs....which isn't really the point of the class but anyway, if you want to see some baby programs I made just click here. Some are interactive which means you need to click on the screen and different keys to make things appear.

Marathon Painting in Black and White

I had to do 10 16"x20" paintings in black and white oil for our first project, mostly still lifes and we had to try to use different techniques and perspectives in each one. I haven't documented them all yet, here a few...

Sophomore Year!

School's staring again after a long, working summer! Classes I'm taking this year are Painting Studio, Electronic Media Studio 2 (which is like mini-programming and hardware and stuff), Concept Studio 2 (Like and idea class), Modern Visual Culture (lecture), and Mayan American History. I've been really busy, but I am enjoying it! I got a nice break this weekend after turning in SO many papers and projects, with the grandparent's visiting. And me not doing anything yesterday....mmm soo nice. This year I am living in an apartment with my room mate form last year and it has been good! Not on a meal plan either, which is nice, but groceries are expensive! At least the weather has been holding up, its been beautiful outside! Definitely ready for fall, trying to enjoy the weather while it lasts! I just bought a nice blanket online, I've been talking about having a nice kinda picnic blanket to lay out on the grass, it just seems like a useful thing to have ya know? hopefully it should be shipped soon...heres a picture of it!

Other than school (the majority of my time), I'm TRYING to eat healthier and work out more, and hang out with people in between. I went to the Highland games here in Pittsburgh a few weekends ago to see Karl play. Even though I had to wake up at 6:00 AM, I got out of the entry fee because I went in the the band, yeah!

More to come...

Small metals final part 2

I did two pairs of earrings attached to bricks- again with one longer pair and one shorter pair. The length of the chain definitely changes the context in which both can be analyzed. I made them in response to ridiculously heavy jewelry, as well as impractical fashion.

(my fashion pose...haha)

Yay brick earrings!

Small metals final part 1

For my final project in small metals I made a set of similar earrings that could attach two or more people together. I used three different distances, to show how easily the connotation of these earrings changed due to the proximity of the two people from one another.

They were a lot of fun to make!

small metals

My finished pin! Made out of copper and brown patina.
The assignment was to make a pin/brooch based on a random word we choose out of a dictionary, and i got carbonization, ahaha. so i decided to have the focus of my piece be on fossils, specifically trilobites, and their accumulation (eventually, through carbonization, they turn into fossil fuels).

Back of the pin.
