Philip Guston and Henri Riviere. Two artists that I am looking at. Over the summer I saw an exhibition of Guston's at the National Gallery, I think. And Riviere does this really cool prints. I seem to be drawn to prints lately, even though I don't do printmaking...but yeah. Here are two of their works..

So, I kinda slacked off this week when it came to my pieces, and it definitely showed. Other than the obvious, I think I need to darken the shading (maybe a 6B pencil) and do some more research. I already have an idea for my next piece, and I just found my cool art paper so I am going to try to use the paper in it. Here are the pieces anyway...

College visits

So, this weekend I visited Wash. U in St. Louis and Carnegie Mellon. I learned a lot about the two schools, and now I think that I have a better idea of what I am looking for. Also, while I was in St. Louis I stopped by at this AWESOME park next to the school and went to the museum there. I saw a print/etching piece by Mary Cassatt, and it really caught my eye. So, I did some more research and found that she did a series of prints/dry etchings, and here are a few...

new new AP art stuff

So, for the next two assignments one was on foreshortening and the other was concentration, and, well, turns out I don't like my concentration idea anymore! so I have another one! my foreshortening piece turned out well, i was happy with it (finally!) and I did a sketchbook page right before it, and I was happy with that too! so I think i am going to be moving in more of this direction for my concentration, kinda like happy garden/motherland. Cool.

This is the foreshortening assignment. While it takes a very minimal approach to it, i actually am satisfied with it. I just started sketching and then went with my gut in choosing the pink color, which i should start doing more often instead of forcing things like i have been.
